Hoarding and autism.

I went to a fantastic event last week in Edinburgh.

‘Community Approach to Hoarding’.

A knowledge café style event with notable keynote speakers who are the leading experts in this field of study (Dr Christina Bratiotis and Dr Sheila Woody).

Dr Christiana Bratiotis and Dr Shelia Woody are world-leading experts in research into the Hoarding condition.

Their participation in the Edinburgh event, organised by  Linda Fay from the Hoarding Academy, has been a significant step in the development of Hoarding practice in Scotland. Dr Bratiotis has written the foreword to Linda Fay’s new book Pragmatic Approach to Chronic Disorganisation and Hoarding which is due to be published in December.

My copy is already on order from Amazon!

Throughout the day there were so many points of reflection about the crossover between Hoarding and Autism. Evidence (and personal experience) indicate a higher prevalence of Autism in Autistic people with Hoarding conditions.

So many questions come from this…

Why?…

How does this affect support?...

How often have I missed this overlap?...

Next step?...

Not sure but this feels like an important area to learn more.

Any ideas how to do that?… let me know here.
