Boxes, Labels and Belonging. Part 3.

Belongingness: apparently is the ‘human need to be a member of a group’

We all have different motivations and levels of desire to belong to a group.

Sometimes, we don’t have a choice about what group we belong to, for example, our co-workers, neighbours, our shared neurotype.

The question is – is that enough?

To belong to a group of people we have no choice about.

I guess for some people it is, but it’s not within our control – we can choose not to associate and spend as little time as possible with these groups but we will always belong.

So perhaps we need to ask; do these groups alone fulfil our need for belongingness?

Do we ever consider belongingness when we are supporting/caring for someone?

What groups have they actively chosen to belong to?

What do you think about this? Let me know here.
